Happy Valentine's day

Years ago when Logan and I first started dating we made a pact that we would not celebrate Valentine's day with one another.  Believe me, it takes a lot of stress off of our marriage.  But in celebration of the day of Love, I want to write a post about the love that I feel a mother and a wife should have for her family.
I have been thinking a lot about motherhood as of late and what it should be.  Tonight I wrote in my own personal journal an entry that I am learning from personal experience of raising my own children a mother should do.  Keep in mind these are my own thoughts and my own beliefs and are not meant to be offensive to anyone.  I write them more as a reminder to myself:
Journal entry on February 14, 2011:

"As a mother, I want to always show my children love and desire to be with them.  I never want them to feel spiritual or mental pain inflicted by me.  A mother should be a confidant, someone to confide your feelings to and feel no discrepancies from; an assurance that you are loved no matter what.  A mother wants to be surrounded by her children and hopefully one day by her grandchildren.  A mother takes care of her sick children and volunteers her life to raising of her precious babies.  At least that is how I feel.  A mother's love is unique and selfless...she thinks of no one but those she loves.  A mother works with her spouse to raise the best children she know how.  A mother's purpose is to raise Heavenly Father's children in a way that when she returns to him, she may not have any regrets about the way she loved them.  That is the mother I strive to be.  I want my children to know that they are always loved without conceit or without any conditions on their part.  I want my children to never have any doubts about my love for them.  They, along with my glorious husband, are my everything.  They are me."

I just love my family so much.  I know I say it all of the time, but I am so beyond blessed.  I don't know what I did to deserve them, but I am grateful that I have them.

Count Your Blessings

Things have been hard lately. But I know that I am truly blessed. I have such a wonderful husband who does so much for our family. I have a wonderful little boy who shows all of us so much love. I have a baby girl who always smiles and brings warmth into our home. We have food on the table, heat on a cold night, and the spirit in our home. I feel like things are going to start looking up. So I choose to be optimistic today. And hopefully everyday from now on.
