I think I swallowed a gummy bear...

Whole, in fact!

Wait....

Truth is it's not a gummy bear, but a human...a human baby for that matter! Doctor's don't know how long it will be till this human gets big...but their estimation is somewhere from late October to early November. Last time I went to the doc's, they told me I only had till November 2, but apparently, it might be a little sooner.

We are so excited to welcome Baby Calkins numero dos into the family! Today, Cache pointed at the screen and said, "Momma, Baaabbbyyy!" I don't know if he understands the concept, but he does understand there is some sort of baby, somewhere in mamma's tummy!

Any guesses to what it will be? We think it will be a boy...but we would be happy to welcome a little girl as well!

18 months already?

I'm afraid its true. My baby is no longer a baby...he's a toddler...a "big boy" as we tell him. I cannot believe that I am a mother of an 18 month old...it shocks me. However, he is wonderful and the most amazing little boy I have ever had the privilege to know. He makes me laugh so much (as you can tell from every picture). So far, he can say and do:
I love you
Bye Bye
Mamma, hat pease (cat in the hat)
Max (from Where the Wild Things Are)
He can spin around in circles for hours
Likes to dance
Has so many friends that he loves and will miss when we leave
Likes to take showers and draw with his "colors" in the shower
Likes to stick things in his "pocticts" of his pants
Loves shoes (gets that from me)
Tells me when he is poopy
Loves "baby Seinstein"
Likes to carry boxes
Loves flavored sparkling water
And so much more I cannot begin to write...

He is now officially off the binki and it is wonderful not to have to worry about it! This boy is amazing! We love him so much and he brings so much joy to our lives. We feel so fortunate to be his parents.

The Future

What are we doing with our future you may ask? Well this is the plan...so far. We are moving to San Diego so that I can intern with a law firm there. We are going to be living with my parents for a few weeks. Then after that, we have absolutely no idea! It sounds a little reckless, but to us, we are excited to see what comes our way. Who knows where or what we will be doing...but we know whatever we will be doing, it will be for the best. Anyways, those in San Diego who want to hang out with us, let us know because we probably want to hang out with you too!

Ha Ha Ha

He is so funny...

We Just Love This Guy...

And anyone who knows him knows why! He is super funny, caring, friendly to everyone and helps you out with the drop of a hat. Kasey, my brother, moved out here about a month ago and it has been blissful to have some family near us. I've just been really proud of him lately! He is pretty amazing...so here's to Kasey! Harrah!

Look at what my husband created...

Yeah, he's pretty amazing. He pretends that he is useless in the kitchen, but when that man wants to cook, he makes some pretty amazing things. This morning I got up to make crepes, but I didn't feel too good so Logan took it upon himself to make them. They were so good! Here's the recipe if you care to try them!

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
    1. In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Stir in the remaining ingredients; mix until smooth.
    2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each crepe. Tilt the pan with a circular motion so that the batter coats the surface evenly.
    3. Cook the crepe for about 2 minutes, until the bottom is light brown. Loosen with a spatula, turn and cook the other side. Stack the finished crepes by putting wax paper between each one. Keep covered with a dry cloth until ready to eat.

Odd Man Out

Sometimes I really feel like the odd man out...like this guy standing against the conformity. Let's face it, I am in an odd situation: I am a mother, going to school with a thousand other single students. On top of that, I am the only mother who goes to school in my building complex, so automatically I am left out of that camaraderie.
But regardless of my situation, I know I am so blessed with family and friends who want to be around me and who like me for some reason or another. Thank you to those who invite me to hang out with you, I love you and know that it is truly appreciated.
On a side note, if you feel like someone is being left out that you know of, maybe take the time to talk to that person and invite them to come with you...they may be your next best friend. I know that is something that I want to be more aware of because we all need friends!
